Clarification | Devanahalli airport

Mr. K. Sriram, Chairman, Builders Association of India, Mysore Centre, replies to my post via email:

“Your point on Devanahalli airport is well taken, but it is not as far as you are making it out to be. As a regular visitor to the site I would say that it takes 1 hour to get there from downtown bangalore at most times and may be 1.5 hours in peak hours.

The 6 lane highway is at an advanced stage of completion and this should reduce travel time further when completed. NICE is a private company which is laying a beautiful peripheral road from the Tumkur road to Hosur road cutting across the Magadi road, Mysore road, Kanakapura road etc. And wants to link uptill Devanahalli and also lay a monorail on its median. And believe me it will be ready well before the airport.

NICE is also building an elevated link to the (Bangalore) city center from Mysore road so you can possibly get to Devanahalli in 45 mins max from any corner in Bangalore. The scenario from the current airport is no better as it is. It takes us 2 full hours to get to Mysore road at peak hours and we believe we can be in Devanahalli in 45 mins from Mysore road if the NICE road is completed.”

Thank you Sir for your clarification. That brings hope to us that the city is in safe hands.

Mr. Sriram .. you are right the current Airport situation is no better.. I guess thats why the new one is being built.. I hope NICE succeeds in doing what it is setting out to do especially with all the political impediments it is facing…

yesterday i took my own auto to invent devanahalli from Uthrahalli (near Padmanabha Nagar) being a frequent flyer .I have started at 9AM went via Mekhri circle/yelenkha and devanahalli and found very difficult to reach .It took 3hrs and 15 miniutes to cross 63km stretch
think about night time .and think about passengers.now my traveltime to HAL airport is less than 45 minutes via koramanagala and an hour via JC road.I am surprised where 45 minutes road is laid down ? perhaps you must be travelling by super fast cars.Think from common man point of view.How Airport authorities/GOVT going to tackle commutation problems .are they going to run metro bus service every 10 minitues from devnahalli round the clock or construct mono rail system from city Like Malaysia? with all these difficulties iam firesighting to day to raech devanahalli i would prefer to travel by Train rather travel by air.HAL air port must be retained for atlaest for air tarvel to Chennai/Hyderbas other short distinations.Otherwise Govt is unwantedly Punishing innocent Public at clutches for Private taxi/auto persons by so called new air port

I saw comments made by Mr Ravi Gowda.He is perfectly correct.HAL air port need to be retained for short distances at least.otherwise Going all the way devanahalli and catching Chennai Flights is a waste.Instaed we can travel by Bus or train which cheaper and time saving.
Govt is bothered about contracts not Public.If the Flight Lands in odd hrs i cannot imagine how our auto /taxi drivers will behave.these charges will be more than Air Fares.Govt should run or allow Private Buses to Airlift the passengers round the clock.otherwise Air traffic will reduce and ultimately very purpose will be defeated

New Airport is constructed due to heavy traffic near HAL air port and Air traffic Congestion.This happened mainly due to lot of residential complexes,malls and other luxurious aprtments near HAL airport.If Government is really concerned about safety of Passengers and clean enviorement near new airport They should not allow any shopping malls,housing complex and commercial buildings within 10kms of new airport.BBMP should declare that all Buildings within 10 kM of New airport is illegal and should not allow any buildings.This will help people to reach airport quickly and no headache for traffic police.I saw various sites in net already Builders started wooing customers for buying.
when India Going to Learn from Other countries ?Like singapore/Malaysia/UK that no Housing complex/malls near International airports.
If this is not made compulsory by Law again we are doing un justice.

I SAW COMMENTS MADE BY RAVI GOWDA AND RAMACHANDRA RAO.THEY ARE PERFECTLY PORTRAYED THE FACTS.THERE IS NO POINT IN TRAVELLING TO NEW AIRPORT AL THE AWY FOR SHORT DESTINATIONS.CHENNAI AND HYDERBAD.EVEN HYDERBAD AIRPORT IS AWAY FROM CITY BY35KMS.FIRST GOVT SHOULD LAY DOWN PROPER ROADS AND METRO SERVICES THEN SHOULD OPEN AIR PORT FOR TRAFFIC.I REGULARY TRAVEL FROMHALAIRPORT TO HYDERBAD AND CHENNAI NOW I HAVE DECIDED TO TRAVEL BY BUS WHICH IS CHEAPER AND TIME SAVING.IAM SURE ALL RIGHTFUL THINKING PERSONS WHO ARE TARVELLING TO CHENNAI/HYDERBAD WILL AVOID AIR TRAVEL FROM BANGALORE.THANKS TO DEVANAHALLIAIRPORT.

I have alraedy cancelled by 14 booking from Bangalore to Hyderbad and chennai.due to waste of time and accessable problems both at hyderbad and Bangalore coupled with Local transport charges.hence forth i will travel from
singapore/malaysia and sydney to chennai and take a train or bus from chenai this will save transport cost.Last week when iflight landed at 10PM from singapore at HAL air port Govt taxi had charged 480Rs to reach BSK 3rd stage.Think about new airport? i do notwant to test .according to me new airport is sheer waste
and govt is bothered about contractors not Public.Let them start metro buses upto city terminal round the clock until then adieu to air travel to devanahalli and hyderbad.

i think there must be a direct bus from mysore to devanahalli airport as there are lot many IT companies coming up and it could possibly be quite time saving than again gettin into the traffic woes of bangalore.. kindly have a look into the same

hello,
Iam a student and a frequent flyer when i have to attend training workshops.The new airport at devanahalli will consume a lot of time and i also want to convey my deep worries at odd hour arrivals and heavy traffic congestion that is such a big headache to all bangaloreans….last but not the least more worries and anxiety are added than a sigh of relieve at it’s operation….iam from guwahati and a student of bangalore….hopefully a way if any may come out…..
