One of my dear friends, Rohith with whom I have been fighting tooth and nail here, forwarded a mail to me saying ‘mungAru maLe’ was releasing in Chennai at a theatre called Casino. Casino is a theatre where all regional language movies are usually released. It is not a theatre you would generally want to go to. Cleanliness and sanitation are the last things on the theatre authority’s mind. Anyway, paying Rs. 50/- per ticket is something I am happy about though. And while paying such a paltry amount (paltry, considering the ticket prices elsewhere) even expecting a cushion on the seat seems too much!
Coming to the movie, it is a bag of cliches. Rich spoilt brat falls in love with beautiful(?) girl. It is love at first sight. The girl is already engaged to a man who saved her father’s life. The ending is something that is not cliched and that’s what makes you leave the theatre with the feeling of “Hmmm… good end to an otherwise drab story”. And trust me, apart from the end there is little else that you can appreciate. The title song is extremely melodious catchy otherwise the music is passable.
As soon as I saw the hero’s introduction I started laughing. What’s it about this guy that made him get through the audtion? He cannot act; is ugly; has no style; grooming is non-existent; his costume selection (ranges from various colours of banians to a polka-dotted underwear) is just so-horrible; dialogue delivery means grinning foolishly at the end of every dialogue; cannot dance; and what not. He didn’t impress me at all.
Then came the heroine. My first reaction was,”What?! Is this a story of a young man falling in love with an older lady?”. She looked so old and her face was full of freckles. What kind of a choice is this for a leading pair? Did the casting director try to cut down on his budget and get a six-sigma certification or something? Fat chance that he would get anywhere near to it considering the quality of output (the lead pair) that he has finally cast. I would give him 5 on 10 just because he cast Anant Nag in that role. Anant Nag is, as always, affable and wonderful!
Cinematorgraphy during the jog falls scene particularly was impressive. The dialogues were written well too. Casual, conversational language and not all ‘traditional kannada’ which was nice to hear after a long time. Being a kannadiga in Chennai leaves you with a lot of loneliness because there is no active community of kannadigas out here. Coming from there, I felt the movie was extremely refreshing. To see Madikeri in the rains is a blessing that few are endowed with. This movie ensured that a wider audience was blessed! The jog falls scene and the idea of having the girl consent to him standing at that point was unbelievably romantic!
The rabbit ‘Devdas’ is a good creation. A symbol of love that comes into the movie when love begins and goes off when it’s time for sacrifice. The moment when ‘Devdas’ dies is indeed the most poignant one in the movie of all. It signified a lot of things. And quite aptly the movie ended on a realistic note. Not something you would see in movies around you in the so called commercially successful industries!
This movie has been inspired by various other successful movies but has combined them all together very well. Maine pyar kiya (a pigeon there, a rabbit here; cap there, watch here), DDLJ (the hero’s character), DDLJ again (engaged girl falling in love with boy) Varsham (rains whenever something significant is about to happen), Titanic (the jog falls sequence standing with arms spread out and subsequently kiss) are among the ones I could spot. I must mention here that I don’t intend to say that the movie has copied as is, the movie stands out on its own very well. Just that these were the few similarities being a movie buff that I found!

Hi,
I would like to start by saying that I do not watch a lot of Kannada movies, not knowing the language very well. Your comments on Mungaru Male are valid and true in many respects, but I also feel that these may be the very reasons why it became such a success. Here are my thoughts
1) Ugly guy, not really very pretty girl – Could possibly be the lack of stereotyping that made the average person identify with them
2) Cliched story where boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy wins her over, their love is not to be – Definately cliched, but perhaps the story of everyone’s first love, where parents and family become a first priority over emotions
3) Devdas the rabbit – Perhaps too obvious a representation of a love that blooms and dies, but it works
4) Costumes – well…i agree with you, there were horrendous, but they did add to the hero’s character of being happy-go-lucky and live for the moment spirit.
I did think the ending was memorable because it showed a continuation of life for both people even though one aspect of their lives did not work the way they wanted it. This is a refreshing change from our otherwise melodramatic heros and heroines who ‘would rather die than live without each other’.
I think as one who isnt particularly interested in Kannada movies, this one was definately worth watching for the ‘real-ness’ in it.
Nandini:
That’s an excellent comment. Thanks. When my review and your comment is read together it will leave people with both sides of the story.
A hopeless review of a nice movie.

not to sound like a troll, just to give another perspective:
maybe the absence of stud-like looks of the hero helped to create a realistic scenario.. making him seem more real and believable.. sometimes audiences arent in a mood to digest excessively beautiful cast, and crave for a dose of simple cast (like the hero in 7G rainbow colony, Cheran in Autograph.. it is easier to connect to some characters)
none from the Rajkumar clan (except from the thespian himself) could be labelled as “stunning”, Ambarish, Upendra, list goes on, but they have managed to survive (understatement). Dunno what makes one click and what doesnt..
I agree, the story wasnt spectacular, and yet it managed to rake in crores.. surprising

Yes, yes. Very well remember. So, you want to start all over this page now?! :) What will your reason be?
hey Mysorean,
You seem to be writing all these articles with an intention of maligning kannada, karnataka. And i say very sadly because you have lost a point here in this topic. Mungaaru maLe is been running sucessfully, but you seem to have gone blind and deaf for this. Check with a doc soon or else it might be late!
Shankaran:
“writing all these articles with an intention of maligning kannada, karnataka”
I just wrote what I thought of the movie. If you have any thoughts about the movie, put them down here. It has been running successfully, yes, agreed. I am in fact happy that there is a kannada movie that is running well. But somehow I didn’t like it. Some of the Kannada movies I really liked were , “Ssshhh..”, “Om”, “Upendra”, “Aptamitra”, “America America” are the ones I can remember instantly apart from a host of Anant Nag movies. Somehow I didn’t like “mungaru male” so much. I don’t think even a doc can help change that! :)
“Casino is a theatre where all regional language movies are usually released.”
- You might want to add “….all regional language movies except Kannada are usually released…”
or is it just a poor attempt to hide the fact that the movie you trash so poorly actually created history by getting a release in konga-naDu ? that even the very scum of the earth had to give in to the sheer poetry that the movie is?
Dear Mysorean,
If you think that if you write such review comments on contrary to public opinion, people will admire you??YOu must be dreaming that by trashing a kannada movie like that you will get a ‘hero’ image or ‘cosmopolitain’ kannadiga image from the bloggers..Just come out of your own world man!! Be truthful to your heart..
The movie was released in Pune sometime back.
But I missed my chance to watch it. (Since I don’t understand the language ‘thoroughly’, some help from Kannada speaking colleague was required. And we couldn’t manage it somehow)
But I liked the songs. Anisutide was good. :p
But I don’t believe hero has to be a good looking stud for a making a nice movie. I haven’t seen Ganesh much apart from one Reliance (or is it Airtel?) ad. So can’t comment on his acting.
Adi,
Great to see that you finally got to see MM in chennai – hither-to, a kannada-movie black-hole!
Sad to know that you dint like the movie. But I really wonder why! Its also sad to know that you grade a movie to run nice, or expect it to be watchable, only if its hero/heroine look like dolls or mannequins (to you). I had expected the right opposite actually, guessing your thinking was often on the lines of reality and such stuff.
But no! You wanted them to be painted as dolls, like Mr. Rajni (66yrs down to 24yrs phenomenon or whatever) was painted in all his recent (mis-)adventures called movies!! I dont intend to blame the artist in him, but the effect chennai audience’s trait has had on you! You seem to reflect their hypocritical preferences too!
That aside, please explain what you mean by this – “Casino is a theatre where all regional language movies are usually released”
What are the regional languages you mean here? Being a theater in chennai, is Tamil not regional there? – so do they also play tamil movies there? Is that your observation too?
But surely, that movie rocks dude! Technically it is setting trends in the industry (across all languages), and thats a lot more than expected from a movie. FYI, a Kannada movie called “savi savi nenapu” has been undergoing dubbing in all south-indian lang’s even before its release!
The most-likely reason for your disliking this movie is the seating arrangement and the environment in Casino. Your blog might have been better off commenting on that instead :)
sisya:
“all regional language movies except Kannada are usually released”
I can definitely say this: I haven’t seen a Kannada movie release here for the last 3+ years that I have been here.
RamNarayan:
Admiration is obviously pouring in as you can see! :)
Yogesh:
Try to watch it whenever you can. It isn’t very tough to understand. Simple language has been used. I am sure a basic knowledge of Kannada will help you watch it fully!
Rohith:
As usual a comment from you missing the main point. You can carry on dude.
One thing I really liked about your comment was this:
“FYI, a Kannada movie called “savi savi nenapu” has been undergoing dubbing in all south-indian lang’s even before its release!”
Hi Adi,
Sorry I am late on commenting on this post though I read it yesterday. I was quite surprised to see long list of comments here and the direction in which the comments are going.
Infact when we wanted to watch the MM movie, we had to go to theatres 3-4 times and return back without watching the movie (tickets ge ashtondu demand, since people were watching it multiple times) and the news paper reviews and the comments from friends and comrades had raised my expectation bar little more than high.
When I actually watched it (had infact read about its shooting in sudha before that) , I felt it was a good story with ‘the best cinematography’ and good songs.
Catchy difference between the regular movies and this was the ease in which people speak(dialogues) and the scenes appears nearer to the daily routines and its free from all those fantasies they show in hindi movies. and Ganesha was already liked by many TV viewers and he being a rich guy in the movie and being a down-to-earth person got him the name/fame :-) but it was not so fair to dump everything on him eventually.
Ultimately the movie doesn’t leave a long lasting effect in the mind, its a very good movie that can be enjoyed at that moment and then feel that fact ‘Oh I now belonged to the group who watched MM’…. I would classify this as a good movie in kannada.
No point in comparing and bringing in language controversies here…
when you reviewed the movie I think you had a very high expectation and little comparision with the other language movies (irabahudu?)
-Veena
The thing which really lasts in my mind is the Devdas Rabbit.. and I don’t think it can be merely compared to pigeon in Maine pyar kiya…
Veena Shivanna:
Comments direction bagge yAke biDi discussion ivaga. adu aSTe.
‘Best cinematography’ na? It was good no doubt. But I wouldn’t call it the best. If you mean ‘best’ by Kannada movie standards, then i don’t know. I haven’t been watching any Kannada movies offlate.
In fact I haven’t blamed him for anything about the movie. Probably if you had a better hero the movie might have fared even better. Who knows! :)
High expectation? Well, maybe.
Devdas Rabbit: I need to clarify something here. We aren’t seeing a pet animal playing a significant role in love stories for the first time. Pigeon in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ did exactly that. Sooraj Bharjatiya didn’t kill the pigeon in the end but kept it going because there the ending was a happy one. Here because “devdas” dies in the end and just because it is a rabbit it cannot be considered different.
Whats wrong with Ganesh and calling him ugly. That means you are calling most of the people around ugly. Come on stop fantasizing fair skin and macho bodies. This is one movie where every one can try to relate the characters to themselves.. Ganesh may not be a salman khan/Amir Khan etc… But he dfinitely is better than Rajini’s son-in-law (Dhanush?), Vijay, Chinna NTR etc…
If the director wanted a good dancer, they would have had to cast Hritik Roshan… Ganesh has acted and danced the best to the level what the role demands… his comic timing is great and dialog delivery… I can totally relate to any kid in Bangalore… carefree attitude maga…
The only thing away from reality I guess is Ganesh’s mom… I dont know how other’s moms are these days.. atleast my mom would not be that cool talking abt having a girlfriend etc and encouraging it… I liked the way she acted in the end when she comes to know that he is in love with her friend’s daughter… My mom would have definitely done that…
The reason why you get brickbats from the Kannadigas on your review is that. In the current situation Kannadaigas and Kannada Movie industry are trying to constantly prove to the rest that we are not lesser than Tamil/Telugu/Hindi etc. So every time you try to call Ganesh ugly… they feel that is a bad mark on the movie itself. Isnt the Dhanush/NTR/Vijay ugly… but the movies are what that need to be appreciated. calling Ganesh is Ugly… Not good looking acceptable… Using your words is what is important… you open your review with calling the hero ugly… saying the movie a bag of cliches… etc.. I dont think I would like to read a review which does not tell me why I should watch a movie. Rather, tell me why I should watch the movie… Your initial three or four lines is what should make me read your review till the end…
When you are writing the review of a movie, you are writing it for others not for you. And you need to be ready to accept what ever comes back to you from thousands of readers you have. You cannot expect someone reading your review to be of the same mindset you have… I guess you will need to come up with a disclaimer before you write your review and then also mention what you expect back in the comments section.
I would like to mention that the guy who gets married to the girl in the end (his name’s diganth) is very good looking… ;)
I saw one more of his movies yesterday…Meera,Madhava,Raghava Nan review odu.
Anyway I’m surprised you could muster enough patience to write such an elaborate review on this movie…It wasnt worth your time…
Vijay:
Thanks for your comment. I really liked it. I should have rearranged the content in such a manner that it makes the reader read the whole review and get the exact idea of what I am trying to convey. I didn’t really mean to ‘trash’ the movie as some of them have felt.
niveditha:
Diganth.. yeah he was good-looking and I don’t know why but his face was very familiar to me. Has he appeared in any ad before?
Ok. I shall read your review.
diganth has been in the Parachute ad with Asin. :)
And someother chewing gum ad. which talks about maintaining the PH balance after you eat…
and he has acted in another movie called Paris Pranaya.
Vijay:
Thanks!
Adi (about my comments),
For the cheap comments that you have made about an artist in a movie, rather than actually commenting about the character he/she had played in the movie, which actually happens to be legitimate content of a movie review, my comment on that post is as much one can expect from an informed reader.
If you wanted a better comment – better in your sense, like ones which proclaim you as the master reviewer around and such stuff and make you elated, you had to write a more sensible review.
Of course you need not like a movie, but not liking a movie because its hero wears “polka-dotted underwear” strips you of reason to review any movie!
Your review has got befitting comments from its readers. Hope they help you in improving your future reviews. But from this review one thing has become clear – you have watched the movie and written about it, with a pre-determined mindset. I get a feeling you were paraphrasing your review right in the middle of the movie itself, instead of indulging in the miracle that it is.
You know what Adi, in the run for writing more reviews, you have stopped enjoying movies itself! You need a break. You need to watch movies for the sake of enjoying them, and not going back home and “finishing” your reviews about them.
All the best for your next one anyways..
My 2 cents…
It is not that ppl goto a movie allways to see hero and heroin how they look like, what they wear etc etc. It is just the simple message there is something beyond love and how it is expressed, how it is conveyed…!!!! If only hero and heroin, costumes, dress that would have matered, all tamil movie goto dabba and will never be released :-).. (Why is the movie yajamana’s counterpart in tamil a super hit..? did ppl goto see vijayakanth’s face..???) the message in the movie..It is the theme in the movie, the message that it gives out to society, the way the message is expressed. I don’t think Ppl goto rajanikanth movie to see his face(Don’t want to say it is ugly). the way he acts the way he convey the message, the punch in his speech, the emotion that he can show. What is there to see in bramandam..? the way he express the simple message. What message does ddlj give..?
Hero is great, heroin is excellent, what is chinikum or shakkar kum or namakkum is giving to society..??? (have an affair after 60 or get married to your friend’s daughter after 60 and ruin her life too..??) (don’t come back and say in a S/W mentality what is wrong again..)
When a movie is made to be accepted by all the layers of society, that is what is the hit movie irrespective of hero, heroin, dress, costumes, dress sense etc, etc.,
Rohith:
As I said, carry on dude, Carry on.
Shiva:
I think I get your point. Thanks for your comment.
Well, unfortunately I dont know enough Tamil movie names to make you “get the point”!! :o
Well,Adithya, may I know what prevented you from watching my new blog?

He he!! Friends become enemies, enemies become friends. All because Adi being a Kannadiga hated an all-time hit like Mungaaru Maale!(Never mind!Even I disliked Chandramukhi despite it being an all-time hit in my native language.)
S.Ganesh Kumar:
Boss, I read your blog. But the damn internet explorer doesn’t allow me to continue and comment. It keeps reloading on its own for some reason that I cannot fathom.
I saw those Balayya’s train, thigh-hitting and hens-killing post. Read the renumeration post. Saw those jokes about when someone goes to God and asks when will Balayya see a hit? Not till I live kinds!
Great blog. keep the good work going.

Hello All,
Ganesh may not be very good looking. But his dialogue delivery in MM is very good. He seems to be far better that so called your king khan and salman khan etc.
He is far better than many south indian heros. MM is the movie liked by indian in US/UK/Pune. When millions of ppl, ppl like NRN likes the movie no will give attention to stupid comments like yours.
In movies there is not true original movies, if you start counting like that all movies will be atleast 10% logical copy of many other movies.
In kannada industry, todays heros are Prem(Really best looking of all south indian actors othen than Telugu hero Venkatesh),Vijay,Ganesh
And one more thing dont compare your king khan with ganesh. king khan according to me i expressionless dumb actor. In hindi films only Amir khan/Hrithik are the one who can act is various roles
adi:
here’s your problem – your review was probably close to the truth, but it was definitely bad bad timing. if you had written it, say, in december or january, at least you would not have gotten the brickbats you got.
by comparison to this movie, at least when i came out after watching ‘america america’, i was humming the ‘nooroo janmakoo’ tune. here, it took quite some time for ‘anisutide’ to grow on me, and that (plus its shreya version) is the only song i have liked in this movie. the cinematography was great, but i have to confess that i thought – after the opening scene – that the other girl was the heroine!
the reason this movie is a hit is probably a combination of factors, maybe some like the common looks of the hero and/or heroine, some like the songs, some the cinematography, some the fact that they are in the majority :-), and some others that the heroine is contemplating betraying her betrothed (who might or might not be a war hero) behind his back, in addition to other intangible(s).
your review comes across as similar to that of a reviewer who, when he finally gets a chance to watch an amitabh movie, writes that amitabh sucks as an actor – the same reviewer, if he/she said the same thing when amitabh’s first movie came out, might get a better response than he now will!
on the positive side, at least you will probably agree with jaya that ganesh is better than king khan! ;-)
- s.b.
p.s.: on the other hand, i just cannot understand how you could have liked sivaji and disliked mungaaru male (would you have liked mungaaru male if you were still in bengalooru, i.e., are you influenced by your environment?)! i have not watched sivaji but from everything i have heard (and hear) about it, it was just hype and not much more – you know how christina aguillera got started, don’t you?
Just saw this blog and could not resist commenting here. So many comments…
I watched this movie 2 days back and I should say that the movie is good. I do not understand why you call Ganesh ugly. Though he is not a stud like many of the Hindi movie heroes, he was perfectly suitable for the role he played – the happy go lucky guy (unlucky in the movie finally).
To some extent I agree with your comments on costumes, but you never know those costumes might go on to be the next fashion trend. Such is the power of media.
The best were the dialogues and the lyrics of each and every song. The music was also good, but many of them reminded me of Mano Murthy’s earlier composition. But, Jayantha Kaikini has done a wonderful job. I have been a big fan of Jayantha Kaikini for all his writings and books, but this one song was just excellent. Cinematography was really good and the best part were the locations. Like people say, location matters a lot for any business, same way the shooting location steals the show in this movie.
One should really appreciate Ganesha’s dialogue delivery. He has acted pretty well.
BTW, someone commented that Diganth has acted in Paris Pranaya. AFAIK, Diganth had not started acting in movies when Paris Pranaya was released. It was another Bangalorean model – Raghu Mukherjee who acted in Paris Pranaya.
Is Mungaru Male still on in Chennai? If yes, where? it doesnt seem to be in Casino :(
Adiya, in this post you have succeeded in dispelling the esteem you had pulled in so far from your writings. I hadn’t expected such an otiose review from someone who is a featured writer in AOL Bollywood blog. Simply disgusting!
Are you the very person who praises Rajanikanth, disregard to his looks and age, and calls Ganesh ugly?
Are you the same person who wrote “these girls made it look like a close-to-real-life-story” in the review of Chak De India and says Sanjana Gandhi is an inappropriate choice?
Are you the selfsame who claims 20-cars-hitting-a-car scene in Sivaji as a great stunt and calls a harum-scarum boy, falling in love with an average-looking girl, a spoilt brat?
Have you been dichotomized, Mysorean?
A movie need not have to be a multi-crore budgeted to be a hit. All that matters is the story, the screenplay, the dialogues, the cinematography and the music, not the look of the actors as you are exacting. I can’t find any obtrusive elements in these fields
You seem to be someone who had prejudiced about Mungaru Male, mostly because it was brought to your notice by someone with whom you were “fighting tooth and nail”. Is that a way to start a movie review?
You have written “Being a kannadiga in Chennai leaves you with a lot of loneliness because there is no active community of kannadigas out here”. However, apparent from not only this post, you no longer seem to be having any pride of being Kannadiga.
I’m not abhorrent towards Non-Kannadigas in any way, I too concur Rajanikanth is still the Thalaivar and Style Mannan and I too have a positive critic towards Chak De India.
Dude, I hope you can take this comment in a sportive manner. Otherwise I suggest you to seriously consider changing the blog name to Tamilian instead of Mysorean!
Lol !
seems like u’ve watched the movie wid the sole objective of finding loopholes rather than enjoying it….
talking abt cliches isn’t it a cliche tat ppl in the lead shud look good . Thank god , u didn’t tell tat a love story is a cliche.
sad tat u didn’t notice the b’ful poetry ( atleast compared to the crap they churn out in modern songs ) . may b u were more busy noticing banians and dotted underwears. remember tat lyrics was the most important part in Indian film music till the seventies.
u’r review is full of contradictions n inconsistencies
@u … The rabbit ‘Devdas’ is a good creation………….. u go gaga over it n devote a para n finally say tat its been ‘inspired’ from MPK .. using an animal / bird to depict love no way contributes to similarities . definitely yes if the rabbit were to be used to pass messages . in fact the rabbit doesn’t even further the communication between the pair. its used more as a metaphor … to vent out the hero’s emotions ….. n it dies unlike MPK.
Tomorrow u might tell tat all comedies r similar because there are comedians in them.
regarding u’r comparison wid varsham … its really funny…..it just shows u’r ignorance abt the significance of monsoon in Kannada culture ( coastal n malnad in specific) . while talking of inspiration u shud not think in absolute terms but rather in the contextual sense .. the story line and usage of rain as an instrument in Varsham is totally different…
agreed tat the story’s quite similar to DDLJ . but this plot being quite realistic is bound to recur . tatz y ppl r able to relate to it better than a story of thieves looting casinos on motor bikes
At the same time nobody has claimed tat MM is a classic ,a movie wid a new story…. all u might have heard from u’r friends is that its a good movie . Its definitely the treatment of the subject tat matters the most.. Regarding the dialogues do visit the mungaru male blog n communities on orkut. Go thru the dialogues n tell me when did u listen to such heart wrenching dialogues of late
u tel tat there r quite a few poignant moments in the movie . In how many recent movies have u experienced it ? Sivaji ? Btw, i how can they be created without good acting.
Guess, u wer expecting a movie wid handsome hunks dancing with sparsely clad females . tell me , how good do u dance …. why shud we expect people in the movies to be what 99% of Indians are not
Finally MM scores because the positives in the movie have such a n overbearing effect tat they hide the shortcomings really well.
Why don’t u watch it in a theatre other than ‘Casino’ .
FYI there are a lot of theatres in Hyd n blore where it is quite normal for a ticket to be priced @ 50 – 60 Rs with decent facilities…
well,
i see that the reviewer is silent for quite sometime. may be he is not accepting comments anymore. if he is doing that, we could interpret that it could be due to one of the following:
a) too busy — but this is not the case as it is evident from his other recent blogs
b) to be indirectly saying “i dont want to reply to you — your comments do not matter’
c) out of answers to some of the valid objections raised.
while it is for the reviewer to say which one of these options is the right one, i think there is at least one point that mandates the reviewer’s attention.
and that point is, how can such a critical reviewr appreciate a purely gimmicks based movie like sivaji? i have seen sivaji and understood it enough to say that it is only rajni rajni and rajni! there is nothing more in it.
I found many interesting in this site. Thank you a lot

As seen in this video, the police cracked down very hard on dissent. Whether it is the representatives of the LGBT community or the opposition.
December 4, 2011 in Russia held elections to the Parliament. At stake were the 450 seats in the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia (the legislature). United Russia won the elections with a 49.54% share of votes (238 seats), down from 64.30% in the 2007 elections. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation received 19.16% (92 seats), while the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia got 11.66% (56 seats) and A Just Russia 13.22% (64 seats). Other parties did not cross the 7% election threshold.
According to the web sites, Mr. Putin’s party (or, as they call it Russians “party of crooks and thieves’), scored from 6 to 15% of the vote. Everything else – the results of fraud and massive violations of the election.
Left Front, Solidarity and other non-systemic opposition forces earlier said they had agreed with the authorities on a rally by 300 in Revolution Square on Saturday, 10 December. There is little doubt the promised 300 will be there – in the specially created groups on Facebook and VKontakte approximately 60 thousand have had themselves registered. Of these, about 35,000 vowed to go to the Moscow rally, said the radio station Ekho Moskvy. Another 8,000 said in Facebook that they “may come.” The registration is continuing.
Meanwhile, over the two previous days of protests the police set a record: they detained nearly one thousand. All are charged with disobeying police and jailed for a maximum of 15 days. All in all, since the date of the elections the number of detainees, according to media reports, has approached 1,200. Among the detainees there were several journalists who were at the rallies on assignment from their editorial boards.
Support for the protest action due Saturday has been expressed by the Russian federation of car owners. “On December 10 we are going to stage a motor procession in the center of Moscow and a rally in Revolution Square against election violations. We intend to support the action with our participation,” said the association’s leader Sergei Kanayev.
In Russia, the revolution begins!
And only the government depends, can be avoided casualties, cancel illegal elections and come to a compromise!
