well,

i see that the reviewer is silent for quite sometime. may be he is not accepting comments anymore. if he is doing that, we could interpret that it could be due to one of the following:

a) too busy -- but this is not the case as it is evident from his other recent blogs
b) to be indirectly saying "i dont want to reply to you -- your comments do not matter'
c) out of answers to some of the valid objections raised.

while it is for the reviewer to say which one of these options is the right one, i think there is at least one point that mandates the reviewer's attention.

and that point is, how can such a critical reviewr appreciate a purely gimmicks based movie like sivaji? i have seen sivaji and understood it enough to say that it is only rajni rajni and rajni! there is nothing more in it.

Lol !

seems like u've watched the movie wid the sole objective of finding loopholes rather than enjoying it....

talking abt cliches isn't it a cliche tat ppl in the lead shud look good . Thank god , u didn't tell tat a love story is a cliche.

sad tat u didn't notice the b'ful poetry ( atleast compared to the crap they churn out in modern songs ) . may b u were more busy noticing banians and dotted underwears. remember tat lyrics was the most important part in Indian film music till the seventies.

u'r review is full of contradictions n inconsistencies

@u ... The rabbit ‘Devdas’ is a good creation.............. u go gaga over it n devote a para n finally say tat its been 'inspired' from MPK .. using an animal / bird to depict love no way contributes to similarities . definitely yes if the rabbit were to be used to pass messages . in fact the rabbit doesn't even further the communication between the pair. its used more as a metaphor ... to vent out the hero's emotions ..... n it dies unlike MPK.

Tomorrow u might tell tat all comedies r similar because there are comedians in them.

regarding u'r comparison wid varsham ... its really funny.....it just shows u'r ignorance abt the significance of monsoon in Kannada culture ( coastal n malnad in specific) . while talking of inspiration u shud not think in absolute terms but rather in the contextual sense .. the story line and usage of rain as an instrument in Varsham is totally different...

agreed tat the story's quite similar to DDLJ . but this plot being quite realistic is bound to recur . tatz y ppl r able to relate to it better than a story of thieves looting casinos on motor bikes
At the same time nobody has claimed tat MM is a classic ,a movie wid a new story.... all u might have heard from u'r friends is that its a good movie . Its definitely the treatment of the subject tat matters the most.. Regarding the dialogues do visit the mungaru male blog n communities on orkut. Go thru the dialogues n tell me when did u listen to such heart wrenching dialogues of late

u tel tat there r quite a few poignant moments in the movie . In how many recent movies have u experienced it ? Sivaji ? Btw, i how can they be created without good acting.

Guess, u wer expecting a movie wid handsome hunks dancing with sparsely clad females . tell me , how good do u dance .... why shud we expect people in the movies to be what 99% of Indians are not

Finally MM scores because the positives in the movie have such a n overbearing effect tat they hide the shortcomings really well.

Why don't u watch it in a theatre other than 'Casino' .
FYI there are a lot of theatres in Hyd n blore where it is quite normal for a ticket to be priced @ 50 - 60 Rs with decent facilities...

Adiya, in this post you have succeeded in dispelling the esteem you had pulled in so far from your writings. I hadn't expected such an otiose review from someone who is a featured writer in AOL Bollywood blog. Simply disgusting!

Are you the very person who praises Rajanikanth, disregard to his looks and age, and calls Ganesh ugly?

Are you the same person who wrote "these girls made it look like a close-to-real-life-story" in the review of Chak De India and says Sanjana Gandhi is an inappropriate choice?

Are you the selfsame who claims 20-cars-hitting-a-car scene in Sivaji as a great stunt and calls a harum-scarum boy, falling in love with an average-looking girl, a spoilt brat?

Have you been dichotomized, Mysorean?

A movie need not have to be a multi-crore budgeted to be a hit. All that matters is the story, the screenplay, the dialogues, the cinematography and the music, not the look of the actors as you are exacting. I can't find any obtrusive elements in these fields

You seem to be someone who had prejudiced about Mungaru Male, mostly because it was brought to your notice by someone with whom you were "fighting tooth and nail". Is that a way to start a movie review?

You have written "Being a kannadiga in Chennai leaves you with a lot of loneliness because there is no active community of kannadigas out here". However, apparent from not only this post, you no longer seem to be having any pride of being Kannadiga.

I'm not abhorrent towards Non-Kannadigas in any way, I too concur Rajanikanth is still the Thalaivar and Style Mannan and I too have a positive critic towards Chak De India.

Dude, I hope you can take this comment in a sportive manner. Otherwise I suggest you to seriously consider changing the blog name to Tamilian instead of Mysorean!

Just saw this blog and could not resist commenting here. So many comments...
I watched this movie 2 days back and I should say that the movie is good. I do not understand why you call Ganesh ugly. Though he is not a stud like many of the Hindi movie heroes, he was perfectly suitable for the role he played - the happy go lucky guy (unlucky in the movie finally).

To some extent I agree with your comments on costumes, but you never know those costumes might go on to be the next fashion trend. Such is the power of media.

The best were the dialogues and the lyrics of each and every song. The music was also good, but many of them reminded me of Mano Murthy's earlier composition. But, Jayantha Kaikini has done a wonderful job. I have been a big fan of Jayantha Kaikini for all his writings and books, but this one song was just excellent. Cinematography was really good and the best part were the locations. Like people say, location matters a lot for any business, same way the shooting location steals the show in this movie.

One should really appreciate Ganesha's dialogue delivery. He has acted pretty well.

BTW, someone commented that Diganth has acted in Paris Pranaya. AFAIK, Diganth had not started acting in movies when Paris Pranaya was released. It was another Bangalorean model - Raghu Mukherjee who acted in Paris Pranaya.

adi:

here's your problem - your review was probably close to the truth, but it was definitely bad bad timing. if you had written it, say, in december or january, at least you would not have gotten the brickbats you got.

by comparison to this movie, at least when i came out after watching 'america america', i was humming the 'nooroo janmakoo' tune. here, it took quite some time for 'anisutide' to grow on me, and that (plus its shreya version) is the only song i have liked in this movie. the cinematography was great, but i have to confess that i thought - after the opening scene - that the other girl was the heroine!

the reason this movie is a hit is probably a combination of factors, maybe some like the common looks of the hero and/or heroine, some like the songs, some the cinematography, some the fact that they are in the majority :-), and some others that the heroine is contemplating betraying her betrothed (who might or might not be a war hero) behind his back, in addition to other intangible(s).

your review comes across as similar to that of a reviewer who, when he finally gets a chance to watch an amitabh movie, writes that amitabh sucks as an actor - the same reviewer, if he/she said the same thing when amitabh's first movie came out, might get a better response than he now will!

on the positive side, at least you will probably agree with jaya that ganesh is better than king khan! ;-)

- s.b.

p.s.: on the other hand, i just cannot understand how you could have liked sivaji and disliked mungaaru male (would you have liked mungaaru male if you were still in bengalooru, i.e., are you influenced by your environment?)! i have not watched sivaji but from everything i have heard (and hear) about it, it was just hype and not much more - you know how christina aguillera got started, don't you?
